Miami has it’s perks, like any city, that go beyond great weather and nightlife. We have a growing metropolitan landscape, which is constantly changing and developing. Our skyline is pretty unique as well, I think it might even complete the color wheel at a first glimpse. For a photographer, it definitely has many areas that you can photograph either night or day and they will look completely different. Downtown being one of them! If you walk away from the touristy Bayside area, you’ll find yourself at the Freedom Tower. If you stand on one of the median strips, you’ll get some fantastic light trails on a busy night. It’s a great area of town to shoot alone too, a lot going on that will keep your mind wondering. The green palm trees swaying will add some movement to your long exposures too, they add a great tropical touch to the urban scene. On this particular night, I went out and there was not as much traffic movement as I’d imagine it to be. But I still managed to get some decent shots, I think? I started on the roof of the Bayside garage and worked myself down to the street level. Freedom tower was brightly lit as usual and the clouds were zooming by, perfect for long exposures. I could have easily sat there and continued to shoot for a few more hours if time allowed itself. Seems like that’s always a problem? 😉
